Puppy Stabbing Death in Milwaukee

From the Journal Sentinel

Man calls 911 after killing dog, police say

A Milwaukee man stabbed his black Labrador puppy to death early Saturday morning after the dog defecated on his carpet, police said.

The 39-year-old man called 911 just after 2:50 a.m. Saturday to tell police he had killed the 8-month-old puppy, named Shadow, said Lt. Robert Raab.

"He was drunk and stated he slaughtered his dog," Captain Michael Young said.

The dog owner, who lives on the grounds of Greenwood Cemetery on W. Cleveland Ave., was arrested and will be referred for a felony charge of cruelty to animals, Raab said.

A dead black dog with a blue collar lay on the snow outside the man's home late Saturday afternoon.

Animal stabbings are uncommon but not unheard of, said John McDowell, acting director for the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission. In his 34 years of experience, McDowell said he's seen three or four animal stabbings.

Song: San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair) Lyrics

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

February 2007 Dog - Bandit

Sponsored February 9, 2007

You might be able to tell that I've got a few years on me - my grey muzzle gives me away every time.

Yet there are some things that continue to amaze me.

WHS finds so many ways for people to support the care of us furry ones. For example, you can purchase tickets for the Great Lakes Family Expo at the Wisconsin Humane Society! The event will be held this weekend, on Saturday, February 10, 2007. A portion of each ticket purchased goes to help the animals at the shelter.
